Koenraad Tinel - Tides

Tinel’s work comes crashing down into the soul of anyone who looks at it. And then it proceeds to shamelessly explore that inner being: it seizes you up like a toothless child on a landfill, seducing you all at once: like white eyes in the jet-black face of a woman, like the streamlined back of a large dog. It gives and it takes, it entices you and devours you whole. It turns you inside out. 

‘I always say: La vie est terrible, mais elle est aussi terriblement belle (Life is terrible but it is also terribly beautiful)’, says Koenraad Tinel. The tiny giant surveys his surroundings with bright eyes, projecting a certain sadness. A fierce enquiring gaze, clearly wondering how his words will be construed this time. The evocative sculptures that have been our companions for several weeks already speak for him.
